It is always a good idea to start with rough compositions of the frame that you have in mind. Working on the roughs are perhaps the most exciting and fun filled part of storyboarding, becasue it involves fast work and fast results.

In this stage the artist can fix all the composition related issues and pose all the elements in the best possible fashion. 

 

Below are some sample roughs that are eventually approved by the Director and then rendered as final drawings...

In the finalised version the frames need not be identical to the rough framing, but need to be a level better.
